About MORGANE Lake

Morgane Lakes benefits from a long-established reputation for being one of the most popular exclusive carp and cat fishing venues in France. The venue consists of a 2.5 acre carp lake and a 2 acre cat lake. Both lakes are just yards apart with accommodation in between, which makes Morgane ideal for groups that include both lovers and haters of catfish!

Morgane Lakes’ greatest attraction is a specialist cat lake, a dedicated carp fishing lake and a modern mobile chalet included in one exclusive price. The venue is located just across the road from the Bigot fish farm and is surrounded by fields and stock ponds. Local shops are 2 minutes away and the nearest supermarket is just 10 minutes away.

Morgane Lake Fishing

The carp lake has carp to around 50lb, including a good number of 40s and lots of 30s. The catfish lake produces 70lb to 90lb cats on a regular basis. The cat lake also holds many smaller carp.

Morgane’s carp species include both grass and koi in addition to the usual mirrors, commons and linears. The cat lake also has specimen mandarin cats. There are no nuisance species to trouble anglers in either lake.

Catch reports give the best indication of the average fish sizes in each lake. This one from September 2018: 24 carp on the carp lake, including 2 x 40s, 6 x 30s, 12 x 20s and 4 under 20lb. 37 catfish on the cat lake, including 14 between 70 and 90lb.

The Mobile Chalet

The facilities at Morgane Lakes are housed in a spacious 45 square metre wooden style chalet. It has heating and is fully insulated with double glazed windows and shutters. Situated on the bank that separates the cat lake from the carp lake, the chalet is perfectly placed for access to both the carp and cat lakes.

Inside the Mobile Chalet

Inside, the main room is open plan with a fitted kitchen, lounge area with sofa bed and dining table. The kitchen has a hob, oven, microwave and kettle. There are two bedrooms, one of which has a double bed and the other has bunk beds. The water is from the mains and is safe to drink. The electricity supply is also from the mains, so hot water is readily available.

Outside the Mobile Chalet

Outside a decking area overlooks the entire carp lake. If you want to stay close to the facilities you can either set up on a small pontoon in front of the chalet or you can fish from the banks on either side. The pontoon swim on the cat lake is just a few steps behind the chalet.

Vehicle Access

The chalet has all-weather access for vehicles and plenty of space for parking.

What you should bring

Although Morgane’s facilities are comfortable and modern, you need to bring your own bedding, towels and tea towels. Please note that you will also need to bring your own consumables such as toilet rolls and rubbish bags as these are not provided. You don’t have to pack carp mats though. Nash Monster Carp Cradles are provided.

The carp lake has a clay bottom, with a light covering of silt. The lake depth is a fairly uniform 3ft to 4ft, so underwater features tend to be created by angler bait and carp feeding patterns. Baited areas and tactics can vary widely from week to week depending on the number of anglers and where they choose to set up.

The cat lake is deep, with depths of up to 16 feet. The big catfish tend to be caught in cover near the margins, so overhanging trees are an important feature to fish to.

Both lakes have swims within a few paces of the facilities, but anglers are free to set up anywhere on the banks.

At the carp lake, some choose to fish from the decked area or the bank next to the accommodation. The left bank is the most popular option for bivvy anglers, although some prefer to fish from the opposite bank.

At the cat lake, most anglers fish from the floating pontoon a few paces behind the accommodation. The right bank is popular with anglers who prefer to fish from the bank.

The great thing about Morgane Lake is that you don’t have to drive too far. We’re 2 hours 10 minutes from the nearest port.

Good Value For Money
Been a good week, ideal for 3 people and good value for money. Facilities excellent. More emphasis on fish care when fishing in hot weather especially. Slow at times due to hot weather, but a good week.
Fishing Tactics: Cell and spinner rigs, particle and pellets on cat lake worked best.
40 Fish:
33 Carp – 3 x 40s (2 grass), 12 x 30s (2 grass), 5 x 20s (1 grass), 9 teens (3 koi) and 4 small from the cat lake.
7 Cats – 2 x 80s, 2 x 50s, 2 x 30s and 1 x 20.

PERFECT FACILITIES
Would take shelter for shade, as there is no natural shade with trees on the cat lake taken out. Hard fishing this week. Bailiff really friendly and helpful.
Fishing Tactics: A mix of particle, pellet and boilies were used.
19 Fish:
16 Carp – 6 x 30s (1 grass), 2 x 20s, 3 x teens (1 koi) and 5 small from the cat lake.
3 Cats – 1 x 80, 1 x 60 and 1 x 50

NON STOP ACTION ON CAT LAKE
Our 4th trip and great as always. The catfish lake is amazing – had the biggest cat in the lake at 120lb+. The carp lake is always more challenging, but the fishing has changed. The aerator is very powerful and we were getting lots of false bites with branches and snags flowing around the lake and into our lines. The facilities are good, although the pull out bed in the living room isn’t very clean. The shower is great.
Fishing Tactics: Pellet/makerel/squid on the cat lake for non-stop action. We were even catching cats on the drop from the boat and trailing carp baits. On the carp lake, snowman rigs, and yellow pop ups worked best with tuna and SLK boilies.
55 Fish:
31 Carp – 11 x 30s (5 grass), 7 x 20s (including a koi), 6 x teens and 7 small from the cat lake.
24 Cats – 1 x 120+, 2 x 80s, 2 x 70s, 6 x 60s, 4 x 50s, 3 x 40s and 6 x 30s.

Fishing Tactics: for catfish – meat. For carp – anything worked.
68 Fish:

10/10
Would recommend to anyone. Chalet is perfect for what you need. Fishing very good – boat very useful on cat lake. Would 100% return.
Fishing Tactics: Tiger nuts worked best for carp. Luncheon meat and halibut pellet worked best for cats.
58 Fish including 13 PBs:
35 Carp – 7 x 30s (5 grass), 5 x 20s, 10 teens and 13 small (most teens and all small carp were from the cat lake).

Excellent lake and facilities.
Good kitchen and hot shower. Water way down on cat lake and pontoon very slippery and dangerous when wet, but other than that we had an excellent time again.
